The Blue Palace in Warsaw

Ulica Senatorska 37, Warszawa

Originally, a baroque and rococo castle stood on this site, which King August der Starke had built here in 1725 and subsequently bequeathed to his daughter Countess Anna Orzelska. After the countess left Warsaw by marriage, it was returned to her father.
Later, Augustus the Strong exchanged the property with Maria Zofia Denhoff for a lifetime residence in the Wilanów Palace.

In 1782 the property fell to the famous Zamoyski family, whose residence it was from 1811 to 1944. In 1815 the strictly classical reconstruction, visible today, took place (the palace was reconstructed after 1944).

It is named after a special, blue-shimmering roof covering that the castle received in the early 19th century.

Until recently, various facilities and a restaurant were located in the adjacent wings of the castle. In 2021, the ensemble is empty and in need of renovation.
